Join us for a 16-night Norway and Midnight Sun cruise from Oslo (the capital of Norway) to Edinburgh (the capital of Scotland).  Along the way you visit some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, including stunning Fjords like nowhere else on earth with waterfalls, green meadows, farms clinging to the cliffs, and snow capped peaks.  You’ll visit lovely Bergen with Mt. Floyen overlooking the city, plus Troldhaugen - Edvard Grieg’s home where the trolls play and Grieg received the inspiration for his beautiful music.  With permission we hope to have a concert from Brooks at Troldhaugen.  As we sail north to visit the Northernmost point in Europe, North Cape, we sail past the Arctic Circle and will experience the Midnight Sun.  The sun will not set for several days until we head back and re-cross the Arctic Circle heading south.  Before we get to Edinburgh we will visit several gorgeous villages like Bodo, Trondheim, Molde, and Olden.  You have a chance to see the picturesque villages and lovely countryside, plus drive by the lakes and walk on a glacier in Olden.  Nature doesn’t get much nicer than this.

July 1, 2019 – Day 1 - Oslo – Depart  5:00pm

Oslo.png If you go early to the beautiful city of Oslo, Norway’s gorgeous capital, you can take in a performance by the National Ballet Company at the new Oslo Opera House, or stroll the Damstredet, a perfectly-preserved slice of Norwegian history where you’ll find wooden houses dating back to the 1700s. Historians will also want to visit Oslo’s many historic vessels, including the Fram and Kon Tiki just yards from where the originals stood.

July 3, 2019 – Day 3 Flam  7am-2:30 pm

Flam.png

You’ll find the beautiful small town of Flam nestled deep in a tributary of the longest and deepest fjord on Earth. Surrounded by steep mountainsides, roaring waterfalls and deep valleys, Flam is a one-of-a-kind experience with nature. It’s also renowned for Aegir, one of Norway’s best craft breweries, and the Flam Railway, considered one of the most fantastic stretches of railroad in the world.

July 3, 2019 – Day 3 Gudvangen  5:00pm  to 5:30pm

Gudvangen.png The tiny hamlet of Gudvangen (population 100 people, 1,400 goats, and an undetermined number of trolls) lies at the head of the Nærøyfjord, which has carved its way deep into the mountainous terrain. Here waterfalls line steep mountainsides and farms lie scattered about green valleys. We’ll pick up some overland tours here but the scenery as we cruise in and out of the fjord is lovely.

July 4, 2019 – Day 4 Geiranger  12:30pm to 5:30pm

Geiranger.png

As we sail up the Fjord to the tiny village of Geiranger, you will be surrounded by 5000- foot sheer cliffs in some areas and in others small farms cling to the steep slopes and are dwarfed by the towering snow-capped peaks. You’ll see the famous Seven Sisters Waterfall, spilling hundreds of thousands of gallons of water into the fjord from an incredible height of 5,000 feet.  Many people think this fjord is one of the most beautiful spots on earth.  Will you?

Alesund.png

July 4-5, 2019 – Day 4-5 Alesund

10pm July4th to 5:30pm July 5th

Just a stone’s throw away from the spectacle of Geirangerfjord, Alesund is renowned for its architecture, where turrets, spires and other whimsical Art Nouveau touches give the town its distinctive character. Tackle the 418 steps to the look out point on Mount Aksla and be rewarded with sweeping views of the charming town, majestic fjords, and rugged Sunmore mountains.

July 6, 2019 – Day 6 - At Sea

Seaday 2.png

Late today you will cross the Arctic Circle and enter the land of the Midnight Sun.  The sun will not set for 5 days until you return and sail south of  the Arctic Circle after we leave Bodo on July 11th.

You might want to try to imagine what this place would be like in 6 months when the opposite happens and the sun will not rise for many weeks.  Imagine the darkness for so long while you enjoy the endless sunshine.

July 7, 2019 – Day 7- Svolvaer Lofoten Islands  8am to 5pm

Marvel at the glacial rock formations of the Lofoten archipelago set against beautiful beaches and sprawling green fields. Visit picturesque fishing hamlets, partake in incredible bird watching opportunities, and catch a glimpse of enormous whales feeding in nearby waters.

July 7, 2019 – Day 7- Trollfjord  7pm to 7:30pm

Short stop to pick-up overland tour guests that started in Svolvaer.

July 8, 2019 – Day 8- Tromso  9am to 9pm

Tromso.png

They say there’s no view like the one you get from the top of the world. Take a cable car up Storsteinen Mountain to take in snow-capped peaks and fjords. Afterward, venture into town and visit the Arctic Cathedral, an architectural marvel that resembles an iceberg rising high above the surrounding buildings. To learn more about the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) pictured - you might stop by the Tromso Museum.

July 9, 2019 – Day 9- Honningsvag  11am to 9pm

Honningsvag.png

Honningsvag, population 4,000, is the last village before the North Cape. No one lives permanently at the North Cape itself, but many come to visit this majestic cliff, rising over 1,000 feet above the sea, providing a lookout over a limitless panorama stretching silently to the North Pole. Ingeniously concealed inside the cliff is North Cape Hall, where you can ponder the vastness in comfort.  Some say North Cape is the northern most point in Europe, some say it is the northern most place on the mainland of Europe, but North Cape is on an island. So which is it, or is it something else? You’ll find out.

July 10, 2019 – Day 10 - At Sea

Enjoy a relaxing day at sea on board Journey.

Rich in natural beauty but with a fun mix of urban activity, there's plenty of adventure to be had, no matter your travel style. Head out of the city to Kerringjoy and experience life at the edge of the Earth.

Shortly after you leave Bodo you will cross the Arctic Circle heading south and the sun will set again on this night, but you will still have very long days of sunlight.

July 12, 2019 – Day 12 - Trondheim  1pm to 8pm

Trondheim.png

Over 1,000 years of history awaits you in Trondheim. Lining the vibrant streets of this city are 17th-century working-class homes transformed into charming bistros, cafes, and local shops. Walk or bike to Nidaros Cathedral and climb the tower for a stunning view of the city and the Nidelva river. After, tour the beautiful Ringve Botanical Gardens that overlook the Trondheim fjord.

Molde.png

Molde, known as the Town of Roses, is a fantastic spot for history buffs and those looking for stunning scenery. When you arrive, take a drive up Trollstigen, a legendary mountain pass that twists through 11 hairpin turns and crosses a towering waterfall. After your unforgettable drive, visit the Romsdal Museum—one of Norway’s largest folk museums—for a look at life in Norway in the early 1900s.
